One ounce gold bars

Where to buy gold

How to buy gold

One ounce (1-oz) gold bars have grown in popularity since the late 2008 Financial Crisis developed because one ounce gold bullion coins, such as American Gold Eagles and South African Krugerrands, picked up big premiums as buyers rushed to the market. Gold Eagles and Krugerrands are the best known gold bullion coins in the U.S., and buyers made Gold Eagles and Krugerrands their first choices.

However, buyers wanting lower premium gold products gravitated toward 1-oz gold bars because they carry much lower premiums than either Gold Eagles or Krugerrands.

(A few years ago, Krugerrands were the lowest premium one ounce gold products available. With some 25 million having been imported into the United States, Krugerrands were readily available. However, since the Financial Crisis, Krugerrand owners have been reluctant sellers, so much so that Krugerrands are again imported. Because new Krugerrands carry the cost of manufacture and importation, they sell at premiums comparable to Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins. Since the Financial Crisis, American Gold Eagles have carried the highest premiums of one ounce gold products.)

PAMP one ounce gold bars

PAMP one ounce gold bars dominate the one ounce gold bar market. They are .9999 fine (99.99% pure) and come in cases of twenty-five bars. Each bar is encased in Mylar with a "certificate of authenticity" printed on the cardboard that surrounds the bar.

One side of the PAMP one gold bars carries the Lady Fortuna design, which is rapidly becoming highly recognized in the United States.

Credit Suisse (Credit Swiss) 1-oz gold bars

Credit Suisse one ounce gold bars also are available from time to time. Credit Suisse bars are manufactured by PAMP and are essentially the same bars with the exception of the designs. Credit Suisse bars carry the Credit Suisse hallmark, while PAMP bars bear both the PAMP logo and the likeness of Lady Fortuna. The Lady Fortuna design graces most PAMP gold bars.
